Independent caterer, abm catering limited have recently won four new school catering contracts worth more than £1.6 million in total contract value.
It has recently started a three-year contract worth £426,000 at Valentines High School in Ilford, Essex to cater for 1,200 students. Taking over from catering firm Scolarest, abm has introduced its smart and modern 'Fresh' dining concept offering healthy, home-cooked food using fresh ingredients sourced from local suppliers.
In September, abm started new contracts at The Windsor Boys' School in Berkshire, catering for 980 students, previously run by Scolarest, as well as Longsands College in Cambridge, taking over from Eden Food Service in a three-year deal worth £476,000 to feed 1,650 students.
Under a three-year contract worth £618,000, abm have also launched a new catering service for 1,500 students at the newly built Minster School in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. The caterer has introduced its Traffic Light menu system which encourages young people to eat more healthily.
The traffic light system means that dishes not only surpass the government's guidelines for food in schools but encourages young people to eat well by ensuring that healthy options – such as boxed salads, pasta and fresh fruit and yoghurt – look and taste good.
"We are delighted to be working with all our new school clients" says Sue Johnson, abm Managing Director. "Encouraging students to eat healthily and providing them with a stylish dining environment where they can enjoy their food, is very important to us."
