The accreditation affirms the company's commitment to being a responsible company and covers key areas such as waste reduction, energy usage, recycling and environmental awareness.
It is designed to address the delicate balance between maintaining profitability and reducing environmental impact and involves a rigorous audit process across the business.
Gordon Haggarty, managing director at Accent Catering, said: "This award means that our customers can be sure that they are working with a company with solid credentials and ethical working practices, that cares about the future and is doing everything it can to minimise the impact of its business on the environment.
"With all our contracts we strive to increase the overall awareness of minimising waste and saving energy. We recently carried out an extensive overhaul of all our generic packaging which is now fully biodegradable and in many instances made from recycled materials. Where possible we have re-usable crates for all of our fresh produce thereby minimising packaging and waste.
"We always recycle packaging cans, oil and equipment efficiently and in many cases we introduce composting schemes. On many of our school contracts we also encourage pupils to recycle rubbish in a fun way."
