The contract caterer will be responsible for breakfast, lunch and vending services plus any internal hospitality requirements.
In addition, Accent will manage the transfer of existing staff under TUPE regulations and implement a comprehensive induction training programme. It will undertake a modest refurbishment of the Café décor with new furniture, ventilation, outdoor seating areas and improved lighting and service counters.
Commenting on the award of the contract Jackie Turner at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home said: "Accent Catering's proposal demonstrated that they had considered the requirements of each of our very different customer types in great detail. They were also able to show how things could be improved considerably with fresh food, British produce and more appropriate menus - especially at weekends.
"This was underpinned by a finance model to show how increasing the sales generated by the general public and vending services could reduce costs considerably."
Gordon Haggarty, managing director at Accent Catering, added: "These improvements will help to increase uptake - particularly at weekends when there are around 500 people on site hoping to re-home a dog or cat. In addition we hope the atmosphere in the café will encourage staff from all levels and departments to come and eat good homemade fresh food every day."
