BHA awards commend outstanding service to the tourism and hospitality industry

This year's awards, given by the British Hospitality Association to commend outstanding service to the tourism and hospitality industry, were presented at the BHA's luncheon at Grosvenor House, London today.

At the presentation, Bob Cotton, chief executive, said that the awards honoured individuals or organisations for the contribution they had made to the industry during the year.

Brand of the Year

Winner: Jamie's Italian

For its success in the casual dining sector and with a successful national roll-out strategy, creating jobs and excellent dining experiences.

BHA's Sustainable Business Award

Winner: ARAMARK

It has a team of managers and employees dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of the company's activities.

BHA Tourism Award

Winner: The Graves family, owners of Armathwaite Hall

A highly successful country house hotel and spa on Bassenthwaite Lake, near Keswick - and Trotters World of Animals which has grown into one of the most popular attractions in the Lake District.

BHA Marketing Award

Winner: Best Western Hotels

For its successful £1m advertising campaign to boost business throughout its 270 hotels.

BHA Innovation Award

Winner: City Inn

For its record of innovation in the provision of guest facilities and meeting space.

BHA Member of the Year Award

Winner: Tragus Holdings and Graham Turner, chief executive

For the company's support of the association on key issues in food service, including the FSA's growing interest in calorie-counted menus and its introduction of Scores on the Doors..

Tourism for All Award

Winner: Thistle Hotels and the Thistle Marble Arch in particular

For its ongoing and proactive programme of improving accessibility and staff awareness in its hotels.
