Brakes appoints new group chief executive officer

Brakes has appointed Philip Jansen as group chief executive officer.

Jansen will officially join the team on 1 February 2010. He will be succeeding Frank McKay as he retires from the group.

Some of Jansen's most recent positions include Group COO and CEO UK and Ireland at the Sodexo Group, and has also held senior roles in My Travel Group plc, TeleWest communications and Procter and Gamble.

Jansen commented on his new appointment: "Brakes is renowned for its excellent reputation, talented people and strong relationships. I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead the business and build on its considerable success in the UK, Ireland and France."
