Speedy's, a “tiny” sandwich shop based in London's Camden, has become the centre of attention after featuring in the BBC1 show 'Sherlock' according to a report by The Daily Mail.

The Mail told how the small business has become Britain's unlikeliest tourist attraction, enticing hundreds of camera-wielding foreign visitors after featuring heavily in the smash-hit BBC1 drama Sherlock.

Producers transformed the flat above Speedy's Sandwich Bar, near London's Euston station, into a modern-day 221B Baker Street, home to Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson in the updated series.

Speedy's is half a mile from the real Baker Street and owner Chris Georgiou, 53, told the Daily Mail: 'Even though the show only started a month ago, we've had 200 new customers who recognised the shop front.

'We have attracted all sorts from across the globe. Lots of Asian people stop to take photographs and we even had the Sherlock Holmes Appreciation Society drop in for a coffee. The cast and crew were all great when they were filming.

"I chatted to Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman [who play Holmes and Watson] and they were charming."
