Charity 'Springboard' to raise interest in hospitality as a career among 'Skills London' audience

4th October 2010, 11:06am

Springboard, the charity that helps young, unemployed and disadvantaged people to find careers in the hospitality industry, is going to use its presence at this year's Skills London event to highlight the benefits of working in the hospitality sector.

The charity will feature at the event, which is described as UK's largest skills exhibition, on 7, 8 and 9 October, at its London Excel location.

It plans to engage the estimated 54,000 visitors – expected to include the London Mayor Boris Johnson and three government ministers – and persuade them that the hospitality, leisure and tourism areas are the "most appealing, engaging, interactive and innovative" at the show.

Springboard will be responsible for delivering and populating the hospitality area with interactive and innovative skills, all designed to highlight the sort of abilities that are necessary in order to succeed in the sector.

The charity has designed a hotel concept for their stand space, which will offer visitors the chance to engage in hands-on sessions that include: Transform Tracey Emin's bed into 5* standards; omelette challenge; careers suite and knowledge Suite.

ExCeL London will be filled with young people, their parents, teachers, families, and 200 exhibiting organisations all interacting to help young people understand the routes and opportunities available when making all-important career decisions.

The organisers hope the event, along with their other positive recent activity, will ensure a bumper turnout at their stand to support, participate and learn about all-important hospitality skills for the 21st Century.
