Charles Boyd to launch new London venue

13th July 2009, 12:12pm

Charles Boyd of Chester Boyd, a contract event caterer based in the City, is launching a new venue, Northumberland House State Rooms, just south of Trafalgar Square in the heart of London.

Operating under the name, Hamilton Boyd Limited, the new business will pool the talents and resources of Charlton House, Chester Boyd and Charles Boyd.

Charles Boyd will maintain his on-going commitment to Chester Boyd and Charlton House. In his role at Hamilton Boyd, as a venue owner, he will employ the services of both Chester Boyd and Charlton House.

Tim Jones, co-founder and chairman of Charlton House, said: "We see this as a very exciting and lucrative opportunity for us. Through the Chester Boyd sales team we will be actively promoting the venue and through Charlton House we will be looking after all of the back office services for Hamilton Boyd at Northumberland House, such as payroll, VAT, health & safety, compliance, HR etc. The icing on the cake is that Charles Boyd will continue as an active member of the Charlton House team and will retain responsibility for our key Chester Boyd clients."

Charles Boyd said: "We believe that Northumberland House will quickly become a leading London venue. Firstly is the extraordinary location; it's within a hundred yards of London's dead centre, just south of Trafalgar Sq., just east of Whitehall and just north of the river, at the top end of Northumberland Avenue. Secondly, its grandeur and scale is of considerable value in that Central London is extremely short of space this size, which is why you see so many wildly expensive marquees, especially in the summer and Christmas.

"We anticipate massive interest when we launch the venue early next year."
Northumberland House is a Classical building including the Trafalgar Ballroom, described by English Heritage as 'the grandest example of a Victorian ballroom in existence'.

Bar Nicholas and the Brasserie are scheduled to open in November 2009, on completion of the interior design by Noel Pierce, the award-winning international hotel and restaurant designer.
