Each bag is made from biodegradable hessian with a fully waterproof lining and is branded with Charlton House's 'Well Being' healthy eating logo.
Judy Roberts, Charlton House's director of innovations, commented on the initiative: "Food on the go is very much part of the office eating experience these days. We realised that there was a great opportunity to support our customers and to push our drive to become a greener company. Our clients have welcomed the initiative and see it as a positive part of the CSR commitment."
The scheme is part of Charlton House's goal to gain ISO 14001 certification for all of its staff restaurants. As it stands, 15 of its 150 restaurants - plus the company's offices at Wyfold and Byrants Farm in Berkshire - already have ISO 14001 certification.
Judy Roberts, Charlton House's director of innovations, said: "Our goal is to integrate ISO14001 into our overall business operations so that each of our sites plays its part in protecting the environment.
"Orders for our bags for life are flooding in, with over 6,000 bags already dispatched - and this has only scratched the surface of our business so far so it is looking very positive! It is a very small step towards a greener planet but a step in the right direction."
