Charlton House staff restaurants win awards

Two Charlton House staff restaurants have won the coveted 'Charlton House Unit of the Year 2008' award.

Land Registry Information Systems in Plymouth was named winner of the chef-managed category, while Legal & General Assurance Society Ltd in Hove, East Sussex, won the managed site category.

Charlton House announced the winners at their annual conference at Wokefield Park in Berkshire on Saturday 7th June 2008.

Each team received an engraved cup, £1,000 spending money and a bottle of champagne for their outstanding levels of food and service.

Commenting on the winners, Tim Jones, co-founder and chairman and of Charlton House, said: " When it came to the short-list stage, we were looking at the performance and progress of each unit over the past year in terms of client relationships, the quality of food served, business development and initiatives all within the strict confines of the contract. Both scored high in all categories."

The contracts were singled out for the award from 150 other Charlton House staff restaurants nationwide after receiving the highest score in a Charlton House Quality & Standards audit and very high Mystery Shopper ratings.

Tim Jones also visited each restaurant to see it operating first-hand. As well as meeting with clients to review performance and satisfaction levels, he had an unannounced meal in each of the short-listed restaurants.

Land Registry IS is part of a group contract of 24 Land Registry sites within the Charlton House portfolio. Chef manager, Anthony Spreadborough, and his team of five, manage catering for 500 customers on-site.

Charlton House gained the catering contract with Legal & General Assurance Ltd in 2006. The independent caterers manage a café, deli bar, coffee shop and hospitality for 2,000 Legal & General staff across two sites in East Sussex.
