Chartwells wins catering contract at Coventry University

Catering and hospitality services Chartwells has won the contract to provide all of its hospitality services at Coventry University.

This contract was won by Compass' education business, Chartwells, after a competitive tender.

Chartwells will provide the catering for the university's employees and more than 17,000 students across the 33-acre campus. Hospitality is also provided for the University.

The catering offer includes the high street brand Costa Coffee, Fairtrade and Rain Forest Alliance tea and coffee, as well as a selection of Compass' branded healthy foods and meals.

Chartwells has taken over the existing catering facilities but is working with the university to create a brand new food court which will open in spring 2011 in the Students' Building.

David Soutter, deputy vice chancellor (Planning and Resources) at Coventry University said: "Chartwells come to us with an impressive track record and we look forward to having a close and productive working relationship with them." 

Tony Byrne, managing director, Chartwells, added: "We are delighted to be working with Coventry University. We have worked really hard to develop an offer that meets the needs of both students and staff and look forward to working in partnership with the University to create an amazing food court, providing the perfect dining environment for the University and offering a wide range of great tasting food."
