Chef and restaurateur Brian Turner presented the prestigious bronze Food for Life Catering Mark to Sodexo for its commitment to transforming school food culture. The Food for Life Partnership award ceremony took place in London this week.

The Catering Mark is a unique scheme which recognises caterers and restaurants who serve fresh food that is free from controversial additives and better for animal welfare.

More and more, people want to know where their food comes from and how it was produced. The bronze Food for Life Catering Mark offers a guarantee that fresh food you can trust is always on the menu.

Talking about the Food for Life journey to bronze, Charlotte Parriss, marketing offer manager at Sodexo, said: "We are delighted that we've achieved the bronze Food for Life Catering Mark.

"This is a fantastic recognition of our commitment to sourcing the very best British produce and serving freshly prepared seasonal meals."

Brian Turner said: "The winners have proved that they are committed to providing healthy, nutritious and climate-friendly food to thousands of school children across the country.

"Working with Food for Life Partnership schools, caterers are an integral part of a bigger picture, teaching children about the importance of sitting around a table together, healthy food, and where their food comes from.

"What better way to tackle obesity and other health issues as well as improve social cohesion?"

Head of policy at the Food for Life Partnership Joanna Lewis said: "The Food for Life Catering Mark was launched in response to public concern about the implications of 'cheap food' for health, animal welfare and the environment.

"It gives caterers across the public and private sectors a way of proving their commitment to the freshly prepared, ethically sourced food that customers are asking for.

"When eating out, people want reassurance that their food and their children's food is fresh, honest and additive-free. They want to know that the issues they care about, from animal welfare to climate change, have been taken care of.

"The Soil Association's Food for Life Catering Mark helps leading caterers give their customers that reassurance."
