Compass will install the 70-seater Costa Coffee in the heart of the University's Central Campus which will open in time for Fresher's Week in October 2009.
The contract, won by Compass' retail business after a competitive tender, is worth almost £1 million in annual revenue and will last seven years. It is the first time the University has outsourced any of its food and drink provision and, working with Warwick, will have created one of the largest Costa Coffee cafes operated by Compass in the country.
Peter Dunn, University of Warwick spokesman, said: "Our consultations with university staff and students showed that they wished to see a well known branded café outlet as part of the choice of catering outlet on campus. We believe Compass is best placed to provide that additional choice on campus."
In time for the spring term 2010, the second phase of re-modelling will be completed and the café area will be extended further to make space for 110 internal seats and 30 seats outside.
In total, Compass is investing £325,000.
