Compass Group secures £25 million catering deal with Aviva insurance

17th December 2009, 3:08pm

Continuing its successful run of major contract wins in the first quarter of the financial year, Compass Group UK & Ireland, through Restaurant Associates, has scooped a new five-year deal worth £25 million in total revenue with Aviva.

This new contract with the UK's largest insurance group brings Compass' total revenue from new business to £260 million since the start of October 2009.

The latest contract with Aviva was awarded to Compass' executive dining business following a competitive and stringent tender process managed by Stern Consultancy. As a result Restaurant Associates will provide catering, hospitality and meeting room services to Aviva's 22 UK sites.

Jason Fletcher, supplier relationships manager, Aviva UK Property & Financial Shared Services, said: "It was vital to ensure that the chosen catering provider understood what is important to Aviva employees. Through a series of four regional roadshows, our employees had the opportunity to see exactly what Restaurant Associates could offer in terms of catering and hospitality. Our employee committee was highly impressed with Restaurant Associates' offering with over 97 per cent of them voting in its favour. We are very much looking forward to the start of the contract next year."

Andy Harris, sales director, Compass Group UK & Ireland, added: "It has been a fantastic start to the financial year for Compass with some significant new contract wins including Lloyds Banking Group, Aviva and King's College Hospital and the beginning of some strong partnerships. Our success, despite tough economic times, is testimony to our passion for delivering great food and great service and we are particularly proud of our latest win with Aviva."

With the start of the Aviva contract in early 2010 Restaurant Associates will refresh all of the sites with a consistent look and feel, similar to what employees would expect on the high street, through a bespoke café and restaurant concept, created specifically for Aviva.

Costa Coffee will be introduced across the estate and fine dining, influenced by the Roux family, will be provided at the London and Norwich offices.
