Compass Group secures contracts to offer retail to hospitals

Compass Group UK & Ireland's retail business has secured several new contracts to provide services to hospitals around the country including The Tunbridge Wells Hospital in Kent.

The new contracts represent approximately £1.7 million in annual turnover. In The Tunbridge Wells Hospital, Compass will operate a Costa Coffee outlet.

Lynn King, business director – retail at Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: "We have experienced rapid growth in grab-and-go retail outlets within the healthcare market recently and in particular the demand for well-recognised branded offerings such as Costa Coffee is increasing. 

"Retail outlets – coffee shops, convenience stores and so on – provide a valuable revenue stream for some Trusts, either as rent concessions or through turnover-based shared income arrangements.

"We are pleased to forge new partnerships with several Trusts already this year and look forward to mobilising the contracts later in the year."
