Compass Group wins catering contract at Westwood campus

Compass Group UK & Ireland has been awarded a new contract to manage a retail area in the Westwood campus.

The nine year contract, worth an estimated £250,000 in annual turnover, will see Compass retail install a Deli Marché café area and Amigo convenience store to service the 2,000 term time staff and students on the campus.

The contract was awarded following a competitive tender and as part of this, the current restaurant space at Westwood will be closed for complete refurbishment this month and replaced with a new, modern and social retail and dining area.

Mark Potter, retail operations director at the University of Warwick said: "The University is delighted to be working on another project with Compass. Their submission for this tender impressed the evaluation team by combining a 'food meets retail' concept together with substantial improvements in the social space available to students and staff at our Westwood campus."

Lynn King, business director – retail at Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: "It is fantastic to open a new retail operation at the University of Warwick. Our partnership began just 18 months ago and we have been working with the University ever since to ensure that our offer matches students' expectations and requirements.

We're really excited about the new retail area in Westwood as we believe it will offer students a welcoming environment in which to grab a bite with friends."

Compass Retail announced its first contract with the University of Warwick in September 2009 at which time it opened a 70 seat Costa Coffee café in the heart of the University's central campus.
