

The contractor's efforts to promoted Fairtrade products over the past years were recognised, including this year's announcement of an industry-first swap to 100% Fairtrade sugar and the series of events it hosted during Fairtrade Fortnight to raise awareness among clients and customers.
And the award citation also mentioned its company-wide purchasing and marketing strategies with ethical trading at their core plus its best practice as demonstrated through its 20-year catering relationship with Oxford Brookes University, the world's first Fairtrade University.
Oxford Brookes and Compass have jointly increased sales of Fairtrade products at the university, which now account for 13% of catering sales.
Jane Wakeling, Compass regional sourcing manager, said: "We serve 3,000,000 customers a day so we understand the significant impact that we have on our suppliers and on the environment.
"We continue to strive to make responsible decisions and to make it as easy as possible for our clients and consumers to buy ethical and sustainable food and drinks. Compass is proud to serve Fairtrade and I am thrilled that our efforts in supporting Fairtrade have been recognised for a second year running through this award."
