DBC Foodservice launches fresh fruit and vegetable range

10th May 2010, 8:44am

DBC Foodservice has launched a fresh fruit and vegetable range to complement its existing fresh, chilled, ambient and frozen ranges.

With the new offering, DBC is now able to provide its national customer base with a full multi-temperature foodservice solution in one delivery.

The range consists of 70 core lines such as an assortment of apple varieties, sweet peppers and summer salad products. DBC's flexibility means it is also able to source more exotic vegetables such as mooli, the long white Japanese vegetable, and more unusual fruits like physallis, for regular customers.

In addition, DBC tracks consumer buying data to ensure that it is able to respond to the latest fruit and veg trends.

Chris Horne, managing director of DBC Foodservice, said: "The launch of our fresh fruit and veg category marks a significant moment within our ambitious growth plans. It follows a highly successful introduction of the range over the last few weeks to several significant nationwide customers, including the MoD and Little Chef. By offering a comprehensive range to customers we are also able to save on food miles by delivering all categories to a customer in one vehicle.

"The general feedback from our branches across the UK is that we are already experiencing considerable demand for the category, with volumes building rapidly. In the last week alone our fruit and veg sales have grown by 16% compared to the previous week."
