The contract is worth in excess of £750k and has an option to extend by a further two years in 2012.
This is the first Local Education Authority (LEA) contract DBC has been awarded under the Scottish Northern Universities Purchasing Initiative (SNUPI) terms.
DBC already has a long-standing partnership with SNUPI, supplying numerous universities and colleges for the last 10 years.
Chris Horne, managing director of DBC, said: "We are delighted to win our first LEA contract under the SNUPI terms, which is a big landmark for DBC. By helping Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council combine orders and deliveries, we are able to reduce significantly the Council's impact on the environment. Improving efficiency and condensing food miles is increasingly becoming a top priority for councils across the country."
Colin Upton, school meals and catering services manager, from Sefton Borough Council, added: "We have been very impressed that DBC Foodservice was able to provide us with a wide range of quality multi-temperature products in such a short amount of time."
