Catermasters is sponsoring McGreavy in her bid to secure a place in the Great Britain squad for next year's Olympic Games. She is helping the company to promote the importance of a healthy diet and taking regular exercise.
As part of the job swap, McGreavy spent a morning in the Catermasters kitchen at its Skills Funding Agency site in Coventry and went head-to-head with Holmes in a competition to cook the best omelette.
Then Holmes was put through a typical training session at McGreavy's local athletics track in Leamington Spa.
Holmes joked: "It was great fun to spend the day with Sara and learn about how much effort she puts into her training and I know she learned a lot about the skills that are required in a busy kitchen. But I think we'll both be sticking to our day jobs."
Catermasters joint managing director Nigel Johnson said: "We have come up with lots of initiatives to help promote our messages about healthy eating and exercise in our sites and staging a light-hearted job swap is a good way of engaging with customers and getting them interested in our campaign."
The job swap will be promoted in Catermasters' 100-plus sites around the UK.
