Energy Bar Picks Smoothie Smile

1st August 2007, 4:12pm

Smoothie Smile® bag in box is proud to be listed with ‘Energy Bar’, an exciting new healthy eating concept which has an interesting twist and is about to rolled out to schools throughout the country.

Energy Bar at first glance appears to be a fresh and funky, healthy eating self service station. Take a closer look and you will see that this is a self contained, educational, self funding and revenue building business that can be run by children for children, whilst also providing healthy affordable drinks, breakfast cereals and snacks throughout the day.

The Big J's Smoothie Smile® bag in box was selected as part of the Energy Bar concept and fits perfectly. As well as its 'free from' credentials, award winning flavours and meeting all the Food in School Guidelines, Smoothie Smile® bag in box can dispense 80 x 250ml chilled servings of 100% pure fruit smoothie with each refill, taking up just 38x28cm surface space. Packaged aseptically, Smoothie Smile® bag in box has a 4 months ambient shelf life unopened and 21 days once loaded into the dispenser.

Paul Bandell, Managing Director of Energy Bar explains, "The Smoothie Smile® dispenser is a great product match for Energy Bar. Just a 150ml serving is equivalent to one of the recommended '5 a day' and with no additives, preservatives, sugars or sweeteners it also meets our healthy standards, whilst being affordable for school children. Each of the products offered in Energy Bar are carefully chosen for their taste, nutritional content as well as their appeal to children. The range includes juices, smoothies, milk as well as cereal bars, loose breakfast cereals and seed/fruit mixes. The school children can influence their range of products, so long as they are healthy! "

Trials of the Energy Bar concept were extremely positive and feedback indicates that it is not only supporting the Governments Healthy Living blueprint and school healthy eating initiatives but is giving school children first hand experience of running a business.

Christine Henderson, Head Teacher of Darwen Blackburn Primary School confirms "I'm delighted to say that the Energy Bar has exceeded our expectations. " Parents have also noticed some unexpected benefits of the Energy Bar with the morning school run made a little easier, "An Energy Bar smoothie is a great incentive for my kids to get to school, so they can fuel up before class".

With National School Meals Week being celebrated 11-15 September, Energy Bar provides a great support to both school meals and packed lunches with healthy and nutritious drinks and food bars.
