FSA introduces new theme for Food Safety Week

30th April 2008, 12:15pm

Food Safety Week is kicking off this Summer between 9-13 June, with a range of events being run across the UK in schools, community groups and local councils to highlight the importance of food safety and hygiene.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is creating a new theme of the special week based on the four C's – cooking, cleaning, chilling and cross-contamination. But the theme will remain 'top secret' until the week itself.

This advice and guidelines will be presented on the FSA website and their consumer advice site at eatwell.gov.uk on 9 June.

To support events being organised locally, a range of publicity materials will be available free of charge such as posters, leaflets, stickers and balloons.

Items can be ordered from foodstandards@ecgroup.co.uk or by calling 0845 606 0667. They will be delivered in mid-May.

To take part in Food Safety week, businesses can register their details at foodsafetyweek@ecgroup.co.uk and include 'Register' in the subject line.
