Foodservice operator Elior UK commits to Red Tractor Assurance

2nd August 2011, 10:33am

Foodservice operator Elior UK has shown its commitment to Red Tractor Assurance by hosting a summer BBQ at the recently opened and newly Red Tractor licensed Museum Café in the National Maritime Museum.

Prepared by executive chef Julian Jenkins, the BBQ was open to the public and showcased the Red Tractor quality assured meat now available on the menu at the Museum Café. Food served, supplied by Elior UK's speciality butchers, included a BBQ of pork and apple and smoky bacon sausages.

The Red Tractor is a mark of assurance that shows the food or drink product meets strict standards of food safety, environmental protection and animal welfare. The Union Flag featured in the logo highlights a guarantee of origin in the UK.

Catherine Roe, managing director Elior UK, said: "Every chef wants to cook with fresh, responsibly sourced ingredients and Red Tractor assurance enables chefs to achieve this. Most importantly it reassures customers about the quality and origin of the food. We want to ensure that the food we serve has been sourced to high standards all the way from the farm, which is why we are so committed to Red Tractor assurance."

David Clarke, chief executive at Red Tractor Assurance, added: "We are delighted that Elior UK is getting behind Red Tractor and showing its commitment to quality food and great farming. The entire Red Tractor supply chain is dedicated to meeting high standards of food safety, animal welfare, and environmental protection.

"The celebratory BBQ at the National Maritime Museum is a great way of highlighting the value behind Red Tractor assurance to the general public. It shows a growing direction within the food industry as a whole to source from well-managed, responsible sources with fully traceable origins."

The event took place last week.
