The finalists are:
Carol Haime, The Sandrock, Farnham, Surrey – (smoked haddock pie with mascarpone cream, poached quails eggs, spinach and button mushrooms)
Craig Hennessey, The Queens Head Inn, Penrith, Cumbria – (cumberland tattie pot)
Rebecca White, The Full Moon, Morton, Nottinghamshire – (moon pie with wings)
Carl Smith, The Windmill Mayfair, London – (venison and double chocolate stout pie)
DJ Johnston-Smith, The Sheep Heid Inn, Edinburgh – (Duddingston fidget pie)
The five recipes were judged by a panel of industry experts including the Craft Guild of Chefs and last year's champion Adam Pavey, and were measured on originality, regionality, simplicity, passion and taste.
The top two finalists will now go on to battle it out to become 2011's British Pie Week Pub Pie Champion in a live cook off. The winner will be revealed on March 3rd in the lead-up to British Pie Week, which takes place from the 7th to 13th March.
John McKears, foodservice sales manager from Jus-Rol, said: "Once again, the standard of entries has been very high and we would like to thank everybody who entered this year's competition. On behalf of the entire British Pie Week team I'd like to congratulate the five very deserving finalists."
