Managing director of Specialist caterer Vacherin joins "noble ranks"

Mark Philpott, the managing director of the specialist catering company Vacherin, has joined “prestigious” Confrérie du Sabre d'Or by becoming a Sabreur.

And to celebrate Philpott enjoyed a party at the site of Vacherin's latest client, the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Sabrage originates from cavalry officers in the French Army in the 1800's that the quickest route to happiness was opening champagne with their swords.

By using a firm wrist, high elbow and swift action on a perfectly chilled bottle of champagne the cork and glass annulus fly away and little of the champagne is spilt.
