Each year Manchester City Council runs its Awards for Excellence, which are designed to recognise individuals and teams who are star performers in delivering quality services to local residents.
Manchester Fayre won three awards for its work in the city:
Team of the Year in a Support Service: The Manchester Fayre team at Gorton Education Village was recognised for providing all the specific dietary needs of pupils and staff at the village which includes Cedar Mount High School and Melland High, a Special Education Needs school.
Making a Difference: Improving Outcomes for Manchester Residents Award:
Pat Jamieson from Manchester Fayre won the award for her dedicated work with pupils with emotional and behavioural needs on the Castlefied Project catering scheme. These pupils were then able to use the experience to help them gain places on further education catering courses.
Delivering Excellence through Service Improvement: The Manchester Fayre team at Brookburn Primary School in Chorlton won the award for working with pupils to create a menu which led to 58 additional pupils a day choosing school meals.
Steve Southern, head of catering services at Manchester City Council said: "I'm delighted that Manchester Fayre has got the recognition it deserves for providing a consistently high quality service which goes from strength to strength."
