Renowned chef Marco Pierre White has handpicked a North West duo to head up his new Liverpool restaurant which is due to open next month.

The Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill will launch on Chapel Street as part of Sanguine Hospitality's new £15m Hotel Indigo development.

Peter Mills and Gary Scott have been appointed to the roles of head chef and restaurant manager.

Mills has almost 40 years' experience, including four years as head chef at The Devon Doorway in Heswall, meanwhile Scott joins after almost 10 years with regional restaurant group, Heathcotes, where he was responsible for the launch of several venues in Manchester, Preston and Liverpool.

Pierre White commented on the appointments: "The restaurant is really taking shape now and we're beginning to see just how impressive the venue will be to our guests. We hope it will be somewhere that friends and family can gather to enjoy simple, quality food in relaxed surroundings.

"Peter and Gary are two experienced, talented individuals whom I feel sure will help us to make our mark on the city's thriving dining scene and give the more established venues a run for their money."

Mills said: "I've spent many years in the industry, working with some very fine chefs, but Marco is on another level. It will be a privilege to work alongside him as we endeavour to bring affordable glamour to the Liverpool food scene."

Scott added: "These are very exciting times for Sanguine Hospitality as the group continues its roll-out of high-end restaurant and hotel venues.

"Bringing together a Marco Pierre White restaurant with the boutique Hotel Indigo brand is a first for Liverpool and gives us the chance to set a high marker for similar venues planned in Newcastle, Birmingham and Manchester."
