NACC Awards – the champions

The National Association of Care Catering (NACC) Awards Dinner was held on Thursday 15 September at the Hilton Hotel Blackpool, during the NACC National Training & Development Forum.

Here is a list of the full winners:

• Regional Award – Scotland
The judges pronounced Scotland the winner of the award for the successful operation of a region throughout the year, for its ability to maintain momentum in spite of severe pressures placed upon acting officers.

• Care Establishment of the Year AwardBroadlands, Greensleeves Homes Trust
Broadlands triumphed in the category that recognises the Day Care Unit or Residential Care Establishment whose service of meals delivers choice, meets dietary needs and ensures that the eating environment and standards provided improve the eating experience throughout the day.

• Catering Team or Individual of the Year Award – Sheila Mingay-Sales, Crocusfields
Described by judges as a 'one person whirlwind', Sheila Mingay-Sales scooped the award that recognises a team's or an individual's outstanding achievement in their field, including the provision of well-balanced nutritious menus and the empowerment of customers.  The judges all agreed that her dedication and hard-working, nothing-is-too-much-trouble attitude represents all that is best of anyone working in the Care Sector.

• Community Meals Award – Dorset Partnership for Older People Programme, Dorset County Council / NHS Dorset. 
The Dorset Partnership for Older People Programme scooped the award for the most effective policy for Community Meals.  Its provision that has developed opportunities for anyone to access food and nutrition was praised by the judges.  They were particularly impressed with the 'person centred' approach that promoted well being and independence.

• Innovation or Achievement Award – E & R Moffat Ltd
This award recognises a significant contribution to the NACC and exceptional innovation in products, service development or procedures.  E & R Moffat Ltd's 'Van Gen' system, based on electrical regeneration ovens, was deemed innovation of the highest order.  The judges were impressed with its efficiency, quality of end product and ease of use – declaring it 'a clear winner'.

• Chairman's Award – Scotland's Community Meals Services
Scotland's Community Meals Services was honoured with the coveted Chairman's Award for its work in ensuring the delivery of good nutrition and the maintenance of the well-being and quality of life of its service users, whilst overcoming a variety of challenges.
