New HR director for Charlton House

Contractor Charlton House has appointed Alison Gilbert as the new human resources director (HR).

Gilbert will be joining the group next Monday (7 April) and will be based at the independent caterer's offices in Berkshire where she will be responsible for the HR needs of 1,900 staff throughout the UK.

She formerly worked at the Baxter Storey Group, where she was also a HR Director, as well as managing major events business for the Mars Group, Sodexo and Compass.

Alison Gilbert commented on her new position: "My experience at the 'coalface' of the hospitality sector gives me a good insight into the daily challenges of running high profile catering operations, not the least of which is the on-going skills shortage.

"I can relate to the issues and opportunities that our managers face on a daily basis, and hope that my experience and knowledge of both HR and caterers will give them the support they need."
