Froobee Pouch
The PouchLink system, patented by Waterwerkz, enables water-based drinks to be produced in-situ within a vending machine, filled in resealable pouches and served chilled, substantially reducing operator costs. This new technology, combining post mix concentrate with an automated point of purchase packaging system is the first post-pack system of its kind.
Using the PouchLink system, the vending machine is capable of holding up to 2000 packaged cold drinks. The system can operate using a variety of pouch sizes from 250 to 500ml, which does away with the need for operators to store, transport and fill bulky ready-to-drink cans and bottles. As a result, refill visits could be dramatically reduced.
In addition to operational efficiencies, the new technology is more environmentally friendly, as it uses just-in-time flash chilling, which will see reduction in energy usage of 80%. It boasts the lowest 'food mile' rating of any vended packaged cold drink.
The PouchLink system can vend well known brands or own label to suit the specific needs of the site or operator. In addition, Waterwerkz has developed its own range of juice based drinks under the 'Froobee' brand, some of which will meet the requirements of the new legislation governing the schools market.
The technology is ideally suited to the schools and drinks vending market and trials are scheduled to take place in the spring 2007.
Comments Adam Green, Waterwerkz managing director: "The driver to create the PouchLink system was based on the operational inefficiencies of filling conventional vending machines on a frequent basis and the growth in demand for water and healthy drinks.
The PouchLink system is designed to reduce man hours and operational costs incurred in continually topping up machines. We believe it is the most environmentally friendly option for vending soft drinks and water."
"It has taken three years research and development to patent and bring the PouchLink system to market. We have already had hugely encouraging feedback from major drinks brands and operators, and will be launching the system in Spring 2007."
Manufacture and distribution of the first PouchLink vending machines will be via an agreement with SandenVendo UK. Comments Chris Leckie, managing director, of SandenVendo UK: "The Waterwerkz PouchLink system is one of the most exciting and innovative developments in the vending industry for many years. Its launch is perfectly timed for the growth in demand for healthy vended drinks.'
The Waterwerkz vending machines with pouchlink system can be seen at Avex on the SandenVendo stand.
