25th March 2009, 3:59pm

Caterers across the UK have just one more week (1 April) to enter the inaugural British Pie Awards.

The competition, which looks to reward and recognize the most original pies, is open for all the various different types of pie.

Judges include Sophie Conran, author of Sophie Conran's Pies, TV chef Rachel Green, TV Chef Phil Vickery, and Xanthe Clay, food writer from The Daily Telegraph.

The Supreme Champion 'Pie of Pies' will win £1000 cash prize, and a two night break at Stapleford Park Country House Hotel. Coveted Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates will also be awarded for pies of a certain calibre.

The prestigious awards, sponsored by the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association, Sysonby Knoll Hotel and Stapleford Park Country House Hotel, will take place on 21 April 2009 and the venue for the awards is the setting of St Mary's Church in Melton Mowbray.
