Pasta King introduces vitamin enriched pasta

9th July 2009, 9:30am

Foodservice supplier Pasta King has launched a new vitamin enriched pasta that has 94% more iron and over 60 times the amount of folic acid found in regular pasta to help school caterers meet the stringent government nutritional guidelines.

The launch took place at the LACA School Meals Catering Exhibition, held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole between 8th and 10th July 2009.

Paul Haigney, operations director at Pasta King, commented: "It is particularly difficult to cook interesting meals containing high levels of Iron and there are significant health benefits from this mineral. Folic acid for example is also very important to have in your diet, and according to the School Food Trust, half of all female teenage students are not getting enough folic acid in their school meals. Our new enriched pasta will help to solve this lack of food nutrients."

The new range will be available to caterers on a trial basis from July.
