Sodexo has announced the award of a five-year contract with Patheon to provide catering and hospitality to its 600 employees based at its Swindon plant.

The UK contract is part of a global deal which sees Sodexo providing catering and hospitality at five other Patheon sties around the world, including the USA, Puerto Rica and Canada.

Patheon is a global provider of contract development and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical industry.

David Bailey, managing director, Sodexo corporate services said: "Patheon's approach to employee engagement is second to none and we are proud to be a part of its strategy. Patheon was looking for a company with the global capability to provide a consistent service at a local level, and we were able to demonstrate this through our experience and portfolio of global clients. We are looking forward to creating a restaurant and catering service which will provide its employees and visitors with an enhanced customer experience."

The contract, which began in mid-September, will see Sodexo refurbish the existing restaurant and hospitality area at each of the sites.

The employee restaurant will have a brand new contemporary look using Sodexo's 'be…' offer and include a deli counter, traditional hot food and a grab & go service.

There will also be a theatre counter where Patheon employees can see their meals prepared and cooked while they wait.

Paul Garofolo, executive vice president & chief technology officer for Patheon said: "Sodexo has effectively proven to have the experience and capability to increase the level of quality and variety of food services within our sites. This is something that is not only important to us for our customers and visitors, but also extremely important for our people.

"They also understood our desire to be consistent across our sites, providing both our customers and employees a common experience. We look forward to forging a long term relationship with them."
