Earlier this year the school won the School Food Trust's School of the Month competition in recognition for the innovative ways they improved their meal service and raised the profile of healthy eating across the school to achieve an incredible 100% increase in meal take up.
They received a £5,000 cash prize to spend on further improvements to their restaurant and kitchen which has helped to ensure their school meals service continues to thrive.
Speaking at the launch, Prue Leith, Chair of the School Food Trust said: "The Kings School is giving its boys exactly the sort of lunch I wish every child could have: freshly cooked, locally sourced, self serve, sit-down-with-knife-and-fork, hot dinner! And a different dish every day for a month so they develop a wide palate.
"The kitchen is state of the art, the dining room is fresh and bright, the chef is organised and enthusiastic, the staff are lovely with the boys, and the boys have time to relax and eat. They love it."
The School of the Month competition is an initiative set up by the School Food Trust to recognise excellence and innovation in the area of school food. It allows all the schools that are signed up to the Million Meals campaign the chance to win £5,000 every month.
