Sandhurst renews ESS catering contract

ESS Support Services Worldwide has been awarded a renewed contract worth more than £40 million in revenue with the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

The Academy selected ESS Support Services Worldwide (ESS), part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, to provide catering and facilities management services for the next five years, following a highly competitive tender process.

When the new contract officially begins in October, ESS will have been partnering with the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst for over a decade.

The start of the new contract will mark the introduction of the MOD's Pay As You Dine scheme which is being supported by ESS' catering offering for defence sites, Lifestyle.

Two new Costa Coffee outlets will also be introduced and the existing Amigo convenience store located in the cadets' leisure area, Sandhurst Hall, will experience a revamp to a Spar.

Chris Garside, business director, ESS, said: "It is truly an honour to cater for the future officers of the British Army and naturally we're delighted to have retained the contract with the Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst.  We look forward to opening the new Costa Coffee units and supporting the Academy through the introduction of the new Pay As You Dine scheme."
