All of the primary and secondary schools at which Sodexo provides catering had the opportunity to enjoy some great fish dishes at the Sustainable Seafood Lunch. As well as being treated to a lunch featuring eco-labelled fish, pupils at Wilton Primary School in Salisbury had a special treat - a visit from the MSC's mascot, Murdock the Fisherman's Cat.
Sodexo's school chefs also served up nutritious fish sourced from MSC accredited fisheries as mid-morning snacks and as lunchtime dishes.
MSC chief executive Rupert Howes said: "Our vision for the future is one of ocean teaming with life and seafood supplies safeguarded for this and future generations. The environmentally conscious choices made by the staff and pupils in schools mean that today, we are another step closer to realising that vision."
In May 2009, Sodexo became the first school meals provider to achieve MSC certification across multiple school contracts in England and Wales. Sodexo serves up over 40,000 school meals to pupils everyday.
