Seafish announces new board members

Seafish, the authority on seafood, has announced that two new directors has joined its board this month for a three-year term.

Quentin Clark, head buyer of fish, meat and poultry at leading retailer Waitrose, will represent the UK retail sector, whilst James Wilson, managing director of Deep Dock Limited will represent the UK shellfish sector.

Welcoming the new members to the board, Seafish Chairman Charles Howeson said: "We are delighted to welcome our new board members today following the official confirmation of their appointments.

"Both Quentin and James have been at the forefront of innovation in their areas of our industry in recent years, with Waitrose and Deep Dock leading the drive towards sustainable seafood. We look forward to working with them to create a more efficient, profitable and sustainable seafood industry, both here in Britain and internationally."

Four re-appointments have also been made. John Whitehead has been reappointed for a third term as deputy chair; his appointment will expire on 13 April 2012. Ole Norgaard and Michael Parker will represent the UK processing sector; and Alex West the catching sector in Scotland, for a second term until 31 March 2012.

A recruitment process is currently underway to find a member to represent the Northern Ireland fisheries sector.

These appointments and re-appointments have all been made in accordance with guidance issued by the Office for the Commissioner for Public Appointments (OCPA).
