Skills for Chefs date for Theo Randall

14th January 2010, 12:23pm

Theo Randall is one of the first chefs to be announced as part of the stellar line up for the 13th Skills for Chefs conference at the University of Sheffield on July 5-6 2010.

For more than 10 years Randall was head chef and partner at The River Café, where under his direction it won its first Michelin star and all the major critics described it as "a place of pilgrimage" which has "changed Britain's restaurant culture for good".

In 2005 he opened his own restaurant, Theo Randall at The InterContinental in Park Lane, London, to critical acclaim and success. The InterContinental hotel has recently undergone a major £76m refurbishment programme.

Randall is determined that in spite of its prestigious address his restaurant will be somewhere people visit for a light spontaneous meal, as well as a celebratory dinner. "I hope my restaurant will be one of those special places where people feel they can drop in for a drink with friends only to find themselves staying to eat in the bar," says Randall.

"But equally I think it will be somewhere people will feel comfortable coming to for a more formal business lunch or four course dinner. I want to offer first class food in a very relaxed, inviting environment."
