Sodexo Prestige retains contract at Ascot Racecourse

Sodexo Prestige, the UK's largest event caterer and provider of corporate hospitality packages, has been re-appointed by Ascot Racecourse Limited to run its conferencing and catering operation.

The five year contract is worth an estimated £100m in total turnover.

The contract will see Sodexo Prestige provide a range of services including the sales and delivery of all hospitality packages at the racecourse, including serving 300,000 visitors over the five day Royal meeting each year.

The contract includes not just the management of the catering on racedays, but also for the non-raceday activities including all of the conferences and events held at the course each year.

David Johnson, managing director - sports & leisure, England & Wales, said: "This is a particularly rewarding time for us as we have been working at Ascot Racecourse since 1998 as the exclusive caterer to the course.  By renewing our contract, it shows the strength of our partnership that has been developed over the years and because of this the contract did not go out to competitive tender.

"Over the next five years, we can look forward to many defining moments at Ascot Racecourse, including the tercentenary of Ascot racecourse this year and in 2012 we will celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of her Majesty The Queen."

Charles Barnett, chief executive officer for Ascot Racecourse, added: "Charles Barnett, Chief Executive for Ascot Racecourse says, "Sodexo Prestige is one of the most innovative catering companies I have had the pleasure of working with.

"We are delighted to still have them as part of our team here at Ascot Racecourse as not only do they work hard but they also produce great quality food and spend much time focussing on staff training making hospitality at the racecourse one of the best in the UK."
