The award comes after the winning team demonstrated their commitment to providing healthier food options for children and young people aged between three and 18 years.
Sodexo and school staff at Beaconhurst School put together special promotions such as 'fresh fruit days' where a selection of fruits and smoothies are offered. A host of information for children and young people are also available from the school to read and learn all about healthy living.
As part of the plan, Sodexo has made a commitment to develop and promote health and wellness solutions for its clients, consumers and employees, as well as providing and promoting varied and balanced food options with reduced salt, sugar and fat content.
Joy Henderson, Sodexo's manager for catering services at the school, said: "We always strive to provide pupils at Beaconhurst School with the best options for eating healthy by ensuring our menus offer a variety of fresh and healthy food. We have found that the children have become more enthusiastic and enjoy having a range of choices for a healthier option."
Iain Kilpatrick, headmaster of Beaconhurst School, added: "We have been working in partnership with Sodexo for over five years and I am delighted that its dedication and commitment for healthy eating has been acknowledged. The 'healthyliving award plus' is well earned as Sodexo consistently delivers high quality exciting menus."
The 'healthyliving award', launched in 2006, is funded by the Scottish Government and managed by Consumer Focus Scotland. The criteria requires businesses to dish up healthier food by improving the way that it is prepared and highlighting the healthy options available.
