The Prince's May Day Network is the UK's largest group of businesses committed to taking action on climate change. By sharing best practice, these businesses promise to play a powerful role in reducing the UK's carbon emissions.
To become a member, businesses have to commit to take action by signing up to at least one of the May Day pledges. Sodexo's pledges include measuring and reporting carbon emissions publicly or to BITC, working in partnership with suppliers to reduce carbon emissions in the supply chain, and encouraging customers to take action on climate change.
The Prince's May Day Summit 2009 brought together over 1,700 business leaders who took part in 13 events across the UK. It was the third event held since the Prince's May Day Summit took place on 1 May 2007, where HRH The Prince of Wales made an emergency 'May Day' call to action on climate change.
Thomas Jelley, Sodexo's corporate citizenship manager, said: "At Sodexo, we are committed to being proactive in identifying where our business impacts on the environment and reducing - where possible eliminating - these impacts. We are delighted to demonstrate this publicly through our pledges and membership of The Prince's May Day Network on climate change."
