Starbucks first UK Drive Through opens tomorrow

29th April 2008, 12:29pm

Starbucks is opening its first UK Drive Through tomorrow (30 April) in Cardiff’s Dunleavy Drive, offering motorists the chance to safely break-up their journey with a coffee.

More than 20 jobs have been created at the new Drive Through. To prepare for the opening, eight employees were flown to the Seattle – the home of Starbucks in the USA – to be given specialist training.

This training included observing and working in several Drive Throughs in and around the Seattle to ensure the same high standard of service is offered in Cardiff.

The new concept will offer seating inside and outside for customers – holding up to 100 people. It will also be open from 6.30am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday, 7am to 8pm on Saturdays and 7.30am to 8pm on Sundays.

Henry Trickery, real estate & store development director at Starbucks UK & Ireland, commented on the new addition and its advantages: "As well as bringing new employment opportunities to the city, we feel this is a great opportunity to deliver the Starbucks Experience in an innovative way to people of South Wales and offer people the chance to relax and enjoy a good cup of coffee before continuing with their journey."
