Starbucks gives away 280,000 free pints of ice cream

To launch its new range of ice creams, Starbucks is running a promotion with social networking website Facebook, which sees 280,000 free pints given away to users.

The ice creams are available from the 6th to the 19th July 2009.

Facebook users can visit http://apps.facebook.com/starbucksicecream/, log in and follow instructions to share a coupon redeemable for a free pint of any Starbucks ice cream flavour.

Participants can treat others or indulge themselves by claiming one of just over 800 coupons available at the top of each hour.

The new range of ice creams are available in the following four flavours: 

Caramel Macchiato (swirled Coffee and Vanilla ice creams with golden caramel)
Mocha Frappuccino (swirled Coffee and Chocolate ice creams)
Java Chip Frappuccino (coffee ice cream with dark chocolaty chunks)
Coffee (swirled Coffee and Espresso ice creams)
