The Acorn Scholarship is an independent award that seeks out young, talented individuals within the catering and hospitality industry.
With support from some of the industry greats including Michael Caines, James Horler, William Baxter and Sean Wheeler, individuals are given the opportunity to develop their careers and go far in the industry.
2008 winner, Rob Hartwell, said: "I've always had a passion for food and it was this passion that helped me win. The Acorn Scholarship has been the absolute highlight of my career so far. I have become more skilled and developed my own style in the kitchen. It has set me well on my way to achieving my ambition of opening my own restaurant."
The self-nominated award is open to individuals who are UK residents and able to work in the UK without restriction.
Just one Scholarship is awarded each year to someone who demonstrates passion and potential and who is at a point in their career when winning the scholarship will make a real difference.
The prize for this prestigious award includes; a £2,000 bursary to use for professional development, £1,500 worth of learnpurple training, plus monthly coaching sessions with learnpurple managing director Jane Sunley and a trip to Villeroy and Boch in Luxembourg to name just a few.
