The Best of British BBQ Team are gearing themselves up to compete at the Georgia State Championship Barbeque Cook-off next month at the Dillard Bluegrass & Barbeque Festival.

The team comprises Ben Bartlett, food development manager for Scottish & Newcastle Pub Company, Mathew Shropshall, full time chef-lecturer at Birmingham College of Food and Viv Harvey, master butcher and Meat Industry Consultant.

Bartlett said: "We are now competing at our 9th International contest and I am sure our unique British sauces, rubs and recipes will do well again this year."

Last year the team walked away with three accolades at the I Love BBQ Festival at Lake Placid, New York and are all certified World KCBS Barbecue Judges.

The team is sponsored by British Pepper & Spice of Northampton.
