The venue, situated in the Hunt's Court, has created 20 new jobs in the area. It is described as offering a casual dining and drinking experience, like the Lounge concept, but with a distinguished twist.
Thought to be the first of its type in the UK, The Cosy Club interior is described as looking and feeling like an eccentric Cluedo country house. It is part of the group's expansion into market town locations across the UK.
The group already has 14 Lounges across the south west and Wales and is targeting 40 sites by 2013 – eight to 10 of which will be Cosy Clubs.
To celebrate the launch after the morning event, Team Loungers hosted an opening bash at The Cosy Club that evening from 6-8pm for over 250 guests.
The guests enjoyed a free bar and tapas and were joined by England cricketer Andy Caddick.
To mark the official opening of The Cosy Club and highlight its family friendly initiatives, pupils from St George's Primary School were set a colouring in project. The Deputy Mayor of Taunton Councilor Steve Brookes selected the winning picture; completed by six year old Mcrenzo Porras aged six years.
The winning child won a birthday party for himself and five friends at The Cosy Club.
In addition, each member of class three dressed up in a white chef's hat and apron to take part in an "educational but fun" cookie baking and decorating demonstration, led by Loungers executive chef, Theo Guy.
