Welcome Break launches first site off motorway network

12th July 2010, 12:45pm

Motorway services operator Welcome Break has opened its first site off the motorway network.

The service station, on the site of a former Little Chef, is located at Oxford Peartree on the A34/A40/A44 Peartree Interchange.

The new-look service station features a Waitrose food shop, Starbucks and KFC.

Welcome Break chief executive Rod McKie said: "Oxford Peartree is located on a major A road that has motorway characteristics.

"The travelling public now demand greater choice and higher calibre brands, such as Waitrose, Starbucks and KFC, which we are able to offer them.

"This is our first compact service station and if it proves successful, could lead to further opportunities for Welcome Break."

The service station will be open from 6am until 11am, 365 days a year.

The staff have been retained and a further 20 staff employed.
