Six-year old Issey's brightly coloured snowman design beat over 500 entries to take the top spot and the coveted prize. Her design, unveiled today at schools across the borough, has been printed on specially commissioned aprons for the school catering staff. As part of her prize, Omar has also won £100 of Hamley's toy store vouchers and £100 worth of art equipment for her school.
Omar's apron was unveiled at the school assembly this morning in front of her school friends as well as Councillor Eileen Quick of the Royal Borough, her head teacher Mr Stevens and Geoffrey Harrison, managing director of Harrison Catering Services.
Catering staff at the Royal Borough's 53 schools will now be giving pupils plenty to smile about by wearing the apron design for the last two weeks of term to serve up Christmas lunches.
Quick said: "I would like to thank Harrison's for organising and sponsoring this competition, and to congratulate every pupil who took part to make it so very successful. It was very difficult to select a winner from the large number of entries, but the winning design really does capture the spirit of Christmas. It is a real credit to Issey, its very young designer."
Harrison added: "Issey's design had a lot of impact, it was beautifully designed and I loved the little smiling sun in the corner. All of our catering staff across Windsor and Maidenhead will be wearing the snowman aprons in the run up to the end of term. We hope they will bring a smile to the pupils' faces and encourage them to have a delicious Christmas lunch with us."
