

Joel Fagg stands proud
Now in its ninth year, The Acorn Scholarship is headed up by Michael Caines, of Gidleigh Park, Bath Priory and Abode Hotels, James Horler, chairman of Ego Restaurants and William Baxter, deputy chairman of Baxterstorey.
As part of Fagg's Scholarship, he will receive a £2,000 bursary for professional development, a trip to Villeroy and Boch in Luxembourg and Springboard UK Ambassador training.
Fagg is delighted with his win: "It really is a dream come true to have won such a prestigious scholarship. It feels amazing to know that my talent and passion for hospitality has been recognised by so many industry leaders.
"I'm very excited about what I'll learn this year and really want to give something back to the industry by helping young people across the UK get into hospitality, which is something I feel very passionate about."
Two further prizes were awarded to highly commended entrants; John Bailey, reception shift leader at the Grand Hotel by Thistle Bristol, and Katarina Burikova, front office manager at the Cavendish Hotel, London who each win a bursary of up to £1000 and access to an industry mentor for 12 months.
