More than 20,000 primary school pupils were invited to come up with a bag of ingredients for catering bosses to turn into a delicious school meal. Glicklich's winning dish will now be included on the school dinners' menu from winter.
Entrants were encouraged to visit Bolton Market, on Ashburner Street, to browse through the wealth of healthy, fresh, local produce for inspiration in picking ingredients.
Glicklich chose cod, pasta, tartare sauce, avocado, carrots, sweet corn and low fat yoghurt as his ingredients.
School meals chef Philip Ogden has begun to cook up a dish using the ingredients, which is now being served up at the school, on Pilkington Street.
Councillor Ismail Ibrahim, executive member for Environmental Services, said: "It was a close call - the children came up with lots of ideas but Joshua's entry really stood out.
"When the dish goes on the menu in September, we'll be using sustainable cod caught from approved fisheries and approved by the Marine Stewardship Council."
